A. I’m doing great! Thank you. Happy to be here.
2. Tell us about your music, and what sets your music apart?
A. Great question! My music is highly melodic, very emotional, soothing and most of the time melancholic. What sets me apart from other pianists, is my touch and style of playing the piano. My playing style is analogous to Bel Canto music, an operatic that style that is associated with beautiful melodies, silvery voices and floods. Very similar to the playing style of Chris Botti, the American jazz pianist
3. Would you say your musical journey had a deliberate direction, or has it gradually evolved to where it is now?
A. My music has never had a deliberate direction. It has evolved tremendously over the years. My music is much more mature now. In a way, my music is now more soothing and relaxing. Because I’m more centered and relaxed. I’m in a good place in my life and during the pandemic I had a lot of time to reflect. I’m very happy about the album I ultimately created during this period.
4. Have you always been interested in being a musician?
A. Yes! I don’t know anything else to be rather than a musician. I’m happiest when I’m doing what I love.
5. Any new music we should be on the lookout for?
A. Thank you for asking. My new song, Frank Sinatra’s My Way will be released on June 17th, 2021.
6. What is the most inspiring song/performance that you’ve seen?
A. Albinoni’s Adagio
7. What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
A. First and foremost, I get great satisfaction from performing. I so enjoy seeing the affects my music has on my fans. I love hearing people say that my music soothes and caresses their soul. I believe what comes out of my heart, sits directly in the listener‘s heart. Such a great feeling for an artist!
8. What does your music say about you?
A. Simple, beautifully romantic and uncomplicated. Honestly!
9. Of your own music, do you have a favorite? If so, please tell us why it’s your favorite.
A. “Behind the Veil” is one of my favorites! Not only is it my favorite, my fans absolutely love this song! It is piano and cello on a bed of strings. I have been told "Behind the Veil" combines perfect orchestration to bring out a beautiful melody
10. With the pandemic subsiding, will you be performing or touring anywhere?
A. I would love to. Nothing is concrete yet but, I may be touring with Il Divo as a guest artist.

1. What started you out in music?
A. I began playing the piano by ear during by formative years. Looking at my passion, my parents got me private lessons. I also majored in pursed classical piano music during my collegiate career.
2. Who are some of your inspirations?
A. Richard Clayderman, Yanni, Francis Lai and Nino Rota.
3. How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A. My music can be best described as romantic, soothing and highly melodic. With a twist of melancholy. A lot of musicians in the business have compared my compositional style to Nino Rota’s, who wrote Godfather, and Francis Lai’s, who wrote Love Story among so many other iconic tracks.
4. Tell us about your creative process?
A. Usually some form of mood change ignite my creative side. I sit down with a glass of wine and get started on the first 12 bars, which I practice to perfection.In the following days, when the emotional spark fizzles, I draw down on the theory of music to actively take the music further and to develop on the original theme. After two week, I have a complete song ready to perform. Voila!
5. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
A. It’s a dream of mine to collaborate with Il Divo. I also just met with Sebastien Izambard. He’s very interested in my style of playing. Next is an introduction to the other 3 members of the group. Keeping my fingers crossed.
6. What is one message you would give to artists starting out?
A. To all the artists starting out, my advice is to believe in yourself and never give up. Knock on every possible door. One eventually opens.
Q) 7. How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
A. The internet has had a tremendous effect on an Indie artist, like to promote his/her music right from home. Networking and sending music has become so easy.
Q) 8. What is your favorite song and why?
A. I have so many favorites. But, If I have to narrow it down to one song, it would be “ Windmills Of My Mind” by Noel Harrison.It’s just absolutely beautiful. Tugs on your heart strings. I think every famous singer and instrumentalist has performed a version of this song.

We recently had the marvelous opportunity to interview the world renowned pianist, composer Faranak Shahroozi. It was a great interview, and here’s what she had to say.
1. Have you ever scored music for film and TV?
A. No, I haven’t composed a score for TV yet. I cant wait to get into it!
As far as movies go, I’ve successfully placed 2 of my songs in two films. The first one is called Down’n Dirty, starting Gary Busy. And the second one is a recent film called Playing the Crease, which is coming soon to theaters.
2. Who are your top five composers of all time and why?
A. 1- Chopin, 2- Beethoven 3-Francis Lai, 4-Nino Rota, 5- John Barry.
These composers have inspired me tremendously. I’ve written music in each of their styles. My music has been compared to all of them.
3. What are your top five favorite films of all time and why?
A.
-Immortal Beloved, which is a film depicting Beethoven's love life, is an all time favorite of mine. It is the perfect harmony of good storytelling and even better music!
-Amadeus, The story of Mozart’s life and his amazing music.Impromptu, Chopin’s life and his lyrical music.
-Impromptu, a movie about Chopin’s life and his lyrical music.
-Love story, An incredible movie where a couple unites against all odds to get married. Both the story and music are unforgettable.
-Somewhere in time. The love story and the music is incredible.I’ve seen these movies over 10 times each.
To me, what makes them stand out more than other movies is the music.
4. Tell us what’s in your playlist. Who are you listening to lately?
A. I love Chris Botti, Hellen Jane Long, Secret Garden, studio 54 radio, Blank and Jones, Jose Jose, Lara Fabian, Carla Bruni. Stevie Wonder, Earth wind and fire, Yasmin Levi.
5. What are your musical plans for the next 6 months or so?
A. At the moment I’m releasing my rendition of Frank Sinatra’s My Way on June 17th. I also have the next 8 songs of my new album , Circles Of My Mind, released every 6 weeks by Symphonic.
I’m so excited to have captured the attention of Il Divo’s singer Sebastien Izambard, who’s very impressed with my style of piano playing. If all goes well, I may tour with them and perform as a guest artist while they sing my ballads.
6. Do you have any other plans related to your next release? A video? Online Shows?
A. Yes, these days everything is centered around the release of my single, Frank Sinatra’s My Way. There is a gorgeous video that goes with it and was just picked up by many video Channels.
I couldn’t be more pleased with this song. I play this iconic song as a solo piano in the classical style of Bel Conte. Which is a singing style that is very emotion evoking!
7. Have you written songs for any other artists?
A. Yes, I wrote a song for Stevie Wonder’s ex wife Syreeta Wright. She sang my song, From my heart to yours, before she passed away. My other ballad, Classic Rhapsody, was sung by Lenny Williams.
8. What are your main ambitions as a musician from here?
A. I want my name, Faranak Shahroozi, to be synonymous with Piano. I wish to be a household name.
